ECOMESA has secured NextGenerationEU funding to install a new sorting line specifically designed for the processing of bio-waste at the La Campiña Environmental Complex

The Community of Madrid has awarded a grant of 845,074.53 euros to the project for a new sorting line specifically designed for the processing of bio-waste at the La Campiña Environmental Recycling Complex (CMR) in Loeches, managed by ECOMESA.

The Community of Madrid has awarded a grant of 845,074.53 euros to the project for a new sorting line specifically designed for the processing of bio-waste at the La Campiña Environmental Recycling Complex (CMR) in Loeches, managed by ECOMESA.

The project forms part of the call for grant applications to implement waste regulations, funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and the NextGenerationEU funds. The grant was awarded under Order 1816/2024 of the Regional Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and the Interior of the Community of Madrid.

The project involves the construction of a new dedicated refining line for the treatment of compost derived from separately collected bio-waste, thereby strengthening the capacity for the separate treatment of the organic fraction and contributing to the fulfilment of European targets on recycling and the circular economy.

The total planned investment amounts to €2,742,504.30, of which €2,414,498.65 corresponds to the eligible budget. The new facility will be equipped with specialised feeding, screening and density separation equipment, as well as transport systems, dust collection and separation systems, vision cameras for process control and associated improvements to the ancillary facilities.

The project will provide a completely independent sorting line for bio-waste, preventing interference with other treatment processes and facilitating more efficient management of recovered materials. It will also help to optimise resource recovery, improve the quality of the compost produced and reduce the amount of waste sent for disposal.

Through this project, FCC Medio Ambiente continues to promote innovative infrastructure that encourages the material recovery of waste and supports the transition towards a circular economy model aligned with national and European environmental objectives.
