FCC Medio Ambiente renews its commitment against climate change for another year with the 'Calculate-Reduce-Offset' seal
- This is the third consecutive year the company has obtained the third and final scope of the seal awarded by the Spanish Office for Climate Change.
- FCC Medio Ambiente has been participating in the process of "Registration of carbon footprint, offsetting and CO₂ absorption projects" uninterruptedly since 2013 established by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
FCC Medio Ambiente has once again obtained the 'Calculo-Reduzco-Compenso' (“I calculate-I reduce-I offset”) seal awarded by the Spanish Office for Climate Change for the third consecutive year, the scope of which includes the calculation, reduction and offsetting of emissions associated with the consumption of electricity, fuel, landfill deposits, composting, biomethanisation, energy recovery of waste and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) leaks generated by the activities carried out by the organisation. The company has thus managed to reduce its average emission intensity by 0.67% in the 2020-2022 three-year period compared to the previous three-year period. To achieve this reduction, FCC Medio Ambiente is working on key aspects in the fight against climate change, such as the sustainability of its vehicle fleet, improvements in waste treatment facilities and the generation of renewable energy.
The 'Calculo-Reduzco-Compenso' seal is awarded to organisations that calculate and register their Carbon Footprint, have a plan for reducing their emissions and effectively take part in absorption projects. With the award of this certificate, FCC Medio Ambiente reinforces the environmental axis of its 2050 Sustainability Strategy, a road map with a 30-year horizon for business development that establishes very demanding objectives and commitments of high added value for the company and society as a whole, integrated into four lines of action: environmental, social, excellence and governance. This plan is aligned with the Spanish Long-Term Decarbonisation Strategy (ELP2050) of the Spanish Government.
