FCC Medio Ambiente delivers the awards for its "La Millor Barcelona amb FCC" photography contest
The company has awarded 15 photographs that portray the importance of urban services in the city of Barcelona.
FCC Medio Ambiente yesterday handed out the awards for the "La Millor Barcelona amb FCC" photography contest that it has been running since the end of June to highlight the importance of urban services, such as public cleansing and waste collection, and the tasks that people perform every day in the city. The event was hosted by Xavier Grau, Director of the Barcelona Capital and Balearic Islands Branch, and was held as part of the Smart City Expo World Congress 2023, the world's leading event for smart cities, which is currently taking place in Barcelona. The winners received their awards from Jordi Payet, General Director, Jordi Ferrando, Director of Zone I, Carme Romero, Head of Production of the Street Cleansing and Waste Collection Services of Barcelona, and Susana Pelegrín, Head of Quality, Environment and Sustainability.
The "La Millor Barcelona amb FCC" competition was run by the Barcelona branch of FCC Medio Ambiente between June and September and received more than 300 entries with images of waste collection, street cleansing and fountain maintenance services.
The initiative, which has awarded 15 photographs of participants from different geographies, has been carried out with the aim of making visible the relevance of the cleaning tasks that nowadays are part of the urban landscape and that with the good work of their employees and the innovation of their machinery contribute to improve the quality seal of the municipalities where they are provided.
FCC Medio Ambiente has been providing environmental services in Barcelona since 1911, when the first contract for the management and maintenance of the sewerage network was signed. The first collection and cleansing contract dates back to 1915, for which it currently has a fleet of 508 vehicles, 97% of which have the "Zero Emissions" or "ECO" environmental label.
