FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente expands its presence in the United States with a new contract in North Carolina

The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners in North Carolina has awarded FCC Environmental Services, US subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente, the municipal solid waste collection contract worth up to $110 million (about €101.4 million). The service has an initial duration of seven years with a possible one-year extension and will begin on 1st January 2025.

The contract aims to provide collection services to approximately 175,000 residents in Unincorporated Areas of the County, places that have a common social identity but are not organised as a local entity.

To provide this new service, the company will hire 43 local employees and make a major investment of more than $15 million (€13.84 million), that considers approximately 70,000 new containers, 24 new collection vehicles and five ancillary vehicles.

With this award FCC Environmental Services expands its activity to North Carolina, which represents its seventh North American state in addition to the current six: Florida, California, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

Dan Brazil, new CEO of FCC Environmental Services, stated, "We are thrilled to announce this significant contract expanding our presence in North Carolina. This award is another testament to the fantastic team at FCC and the high level of service we provide, and we look forward to a longstanding partnership with Buncombe County for many years to come.”

FCC Environmental Services is one of the largest municipal solid waste management companies in the United States, currently serving over 11 million citizens.

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente is the company which backbones the environmental activities of the FCC Group. For over 120 years, it has been providing comprehensive waste management and municipal services and currently serves 67 million people in 5,400 municipalities around the world.
