FCC Medio Ambiente obtains AENOR Certified Commitments certification for its waste collection service in Madrid
- The company becomes the first agent in the sector to obtain this certification for its rigorous compliance with service quality standards.
The Madrid City Council's urban waste collection and transport service – Lot 1 (Western zone), managed by FCC Medio Ambiente, has obtained AENOR's Certified Commitments certification, becoming the first operator in the sector to achieve this recognition.
The contract for the concession of the public service of containerisation, collection of waste by Madrid City Council establishes the obligation for concessionary companies to obtain a service quality certificate, issued by an independent body from the first year of the contract's validity and maintained throughout its duration. This certification is based on compliance with contractual requirements, the systematisation of activity control, environmental protection, the prevention of negative impacts and the optimisation of resources. FCC Medio Ambiente, in collaboration with Madrid City Council, has led the design of the procedure for coordinating service quality certification, and both entities have worked together to define the quality indicators.
The aim of this procedure is to establish a systematic and objective methodology that guarantees the quality of the urban waste collection service in the capital. To this end, control and evaluation mechanisms have been defined to verify the efficient and compliant provision of the service by the company, ensure continuous monitoring of operational, technical and human performance through specific indicators, and promote data-based decision-making.
AENOR certification validates strict compliance with the defined indicators and reinforces the joint commitment between Madrid City Council and FCC Medio Ambiente to continuous improvement, transparency and excellence in the management of urban public services. It provides external and independent endorsement that reinforces public confidence and consolidates the commitment of Madrid City Council and FCC Medio Ambiente to continuous improvement, sustainability and transparency.
FCC Medio Ambiente thus reaffirms its commitment to excellence as one of the main targets of its 2050 Sustainability Strategy (ES2050), a fundamental pillar of its operational strategy. This approach enables progress towards increasingly efficient waste management, with process optimisation, the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies and compliance with the highest environmental standards in all its activities.
