FCC Meio Ambiente consolidates its growth in Portugal with new contracts
- The company has been awarded the waste collection service contract for Fundão, which joins the recent renewal of the urban services contract for Marco de Canaveses.

FCC Meio Ambiente, subsidiary of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente in Portugal, continues to strengthen its position in the Portuguese market with the award of a new contract for the collection and transport of municipal solid waste in Fundão (Castelo Branco district). The contract is worth around €3 million over the next five years.
Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of the new contract, which will serve the city's 26,500 residents with a fleet of seven vehicles, all ECO-labelled, aligned with the commitment of the Concelho de Fundão and FCC Meio Ambiente to protect the environment and fight against climate change.
One of the new features of the service is the implementation of VISION, the integrated digital management platform developed exclusively by the company, which allows for the control, monitoring and optimisation of work and enables real-time interaction with the municipal team, residents' requests and incident reports. In line with this innovation, the vehicles will also be equipped with a GPS collection system.
The service will collect around ten thousand tonnes of waste per year and has a staff of 14 people. During the summer seasonthe service will be reinforced according to higher demand and a telephone number free of charge has been made available to residents for the collection of household items and pruning waste, accompanied by various awareness campaigns with the aim of involving residents in the care and cleanliness of their municipality.
This new award joins the recent €18 million renewal for the next ten years of the contract for the waste collection and street cleansing services in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses (district of Porto), which the company has been providing uninterruptedly since 2006. The contract serves 49,500 residents and has around 30 sustainable vehicles, including electric units, and more than 40 employees.
