FCC Medio Ambiente received an award at the 2021 Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Acknowledgements and Mentions ceremony for "Best Practices for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in companies" from Madrid’s Regional Institute of Occupational Health and Safety. The event took place on 28th April, World Day for Safety and Health at Work, at the Madrid Regional Government's headquarters, where Francisco José Huete, FCC Medio Ambiente's Management Systems Director, collected the award from Alfredo Timermans, Deputy Minister of Employment.

FCC Medio Ambiente received this special mention, in the category of companies or entities with more than 50 employees under the slogan "At the forefront against the pandemic".

The award is part of the fourth edition of the Community of Madrid's OH&S Acknowledgements and Mentions, which recognise those companies or individuals who contribute to the dissemination of the culture of prevention and encourage the best preventive solutions adopted, in order to reduce the damages arising from working conditions.

This honorific mention represents an acknowledgement to the company's work in the area of OH&S during the COVID-19 pandemic. FCC Medio Ambiente has provided uninterrupted services since the beginning of the pandemic, services that have been declared as essential, and the risk prevention protocols implemented have been fundamental to this continuity. The company was able to keep on offering its services and ensure the health and safety of its employees, despite the difficulties encountered in the first few weeks due to the shortage of disinfection products and personal protective equipment such as overalls, gloves and masks.

The work from its Medical Services, the Joint OH&S Service and the Human Resources department, which defined the measures to ensure that staff could continue to work as safely as possible, was also highlighted.
